>Swoop moves to GitHub and Mor.ph and converts to GRails

>

Swoop which is an open source vehicle fleet management application has made some major changes.   The original software was hosted on Sourceforge and was developed in Java using JSF and Richfaces.   Several companies are currently using this software as a base for their fleet management applications.   Technology has advanced in the past few months so there are now open source GPS management systems and companies have provided lots of valuable feedback on how to improve the application.   Today the development team is beginning to rewrite the application from the ground up.   This includes a new data model and lots of new technology including GRails, JQuery, Hibernate, Spring and much more.   The source code has been moved to GitHub to allow companies to easily branch out the code base to build more customized solutions but still provide a lifeline back to the original codebase.   Also we are leveraging Mor.ph to host the demo code.   The URL for the online demo is here with user id admin and password admin.    We are excited about using the mor.ph technology to gain access to cloud based computing and allow our clients to easily grow as demand increases.

Swoop is still open source under the Apache 2.0 license and we welcome all questions, input and development assistance.
